Support / Probes are offline???
« on: January 02, 2018, 07:11:57 PM »
Ever since the last IOS update, I cannot get a temp reading on the K type thermocouples. I've encountered this problem in the past, and somehow it worked after restarting my laptop, and it didn't have problems afterward. But now it's doing it again, and restarting multiple times to both the phone and laptop has not solved the issue.

The original Roastmaster ran smooth. After all the new updates, I keep getting three error messages on startup (Probes are offline), but I just press OK and then press Add Curve to link up the probes. But whatever, I was willing to overlook it since all I really needed was the temp readout.

But now there's just a question mark next to the temperature. I have two K type thermocouples. Both are simultaneously giving me question marks so I don't think it's a problem with the probes. The USB attachment is also functioning; it makes a noise when I plug it into the laptop. Also the Phidget software is live. My laptop is running Windows.

Support / Probe Unlinked - I need help
« on: February 05, 2017, 05:13:35 AM »
Hi, I'm a bit daunted by the task of reinitiating myself with Roastmaster and the probes.

I originally purchased the K-type thermocouples and the Roastmaster app about five years ago, and I remember having issues starting it up even then so this is not new territory for me by any means. It's been a while, so I don't know how I got the darn thing to work, but here I am again. I cannot figure out how to link the probes.

I wish there was a Get Started - Link the Thermocouples to the computer + iPhone page at the top of the website, as I've always considered it the biggest hurdle, alongside purchasing the right parts. But once again, I find myself scouring the website for bread crumbs.

Anyway, I have two problems. First problem - the Phidget Control panel will not open. Yes, there's a small icon on the bottom right corner of my lame Windows desktop, but I cannot physically get a window to appear. Apparently, the icon says it's running, but I don't know if I'm supposed to open the window and input something for the darn probes to link up. I remember the last time, the Control Panel window did open, although once you set it up, you never had to touch it again. You just had to make sure it was open to run Roastmaster. Maybe I downloaded the wrong Phidget for my PC. I'm on Windows and I downloaded the latest version suggested on your website, because I also downloaded the most recent version of Roastmaster...

Secondly, I don't know if I'm properly set up. Yes, I've hooked up the Phidget to the laptop via USB, but how does the iPhone come into play? Do I need to turn on Blue Tooth? How does the Phone detect whether or not the probes are linked? Does it detect it by WiFi? I get the feeling I'm missing a big step here. Maybe there's a cable that I lost that's supposed to link to the iPhone??? So far, the laptop is linked to the Phiget by USb, but that's it...

Thirdly, maybe the Phidget is broken... I don't know how you'd ever know. Gah... I have a headache.

Support / Unlinked Probe... gah
« on: July 03, 2013, 05:15:46 AM »
So I've searched the forums and found this problem referenced by other users, but unfortunately, I could not troubleshoot the unlinked probe from my setup.

Currently, I'm trying to link SBC3 to my iPhone 5, and although from the Phidgets control panel, it says that I'm running, my iPhone will not register the probe so I can't start the roast. Gah, I'm so excited and anxious to get this thing finally rolling, but it seems once again, I've stumbled upon another hurdle...

Also, is there a way to delete a Probe profile? I accidentally entered the wrong serial number for one of 'em, but both are named BT. I couldn't find a way to EDIT the established profiles, nor delete... so I have two folders named BT, and I can't tell which is which because it won't let me access the details... is the newer one up top?

Once again, thanks for helping me out!

PS: I've also tried restarting the laptop, and it didn't do the trick. Also tried closing and reopening Roastmaster app, and that didn't work either.

Support / Parts to get started?
« on: June 11, 2013, 04:57:31 AM »
I just tried to order the parts to get started, but it appears the 4 Port Temp Sensor indicated in the following link is no longer. Do you have any suggestions?

http://rainfroginc.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Data-Logging-Data-Sheet_Layout-1.pdf

So I'm planning on purchasing an iPad, 4 Port Temp Sensor, Acrylic Enclosure, and K Type Thermocouple. Is this all? As noted above, the 4 Port Temp Sensor is not available anymore... or at least the link is leading to an antiquated page.

PS: I'm a complete newb, and I'm not much of an engineer-minded person, so I apologize in advance if I'm asking terribly basic questions. Appreciate all the help I can get.
