Wish List / Re: Edit profile/program reference curve graphically

Thanks for the help, that a lot easier than the way I was doing it.
Your envisioned curve editing feature sounds exactly like what I want. Any chance of that making it into the upcoming release?

Hi Trey

Thanks for the kind words.

I've been meaning to build that type of feature for a long time now, but with more than just node editing capabilities. I envision being able to drag select a range of a curve, and then "pull" that portion smoothly...up, down, left right...whatever applies to get the desired shape. That is what I find myself wanting to do when honing in on a new profile.

In the meantime though - I changed a few things code-wise back in iOS 10 that will get you at least partway there with a "dummy" roast.

Here's how:

1. In the roast console of a past roast, select the curve you want to start with and tap the action button right next to the graph, and choose "Copy Curve" (or navigate to the curve details screen from a Profile and tap the "Copy" button in the toolbar that looks like a clipboard with an arrow.
2. Make a new roast, and tap the action button next to the graph and choose "Paste Curves"
3. Save the roast and enter the Analyzer.
4. Since the dummy roast is still pending, you'll have full editing capabilities by tapping each node, and entering a new value in the top left readout text field. It's a lot faster and the changes are immediately visible.
5. Once you've gotten the curve to your liking, select it again back in the console, and copy and paste it into your new profile. It will paste as a reference curve.

Let me know how you make out.

Wish List / Edit profile/program reference curve graphically
« Last post by Trey D on July 04, 2020, 09:33:28 PM »
Hi,

I'd like to request a new way to edit the nodes of a reference curve from within the profile/program. Currently (AFAIK), the only way to do this is to enter Edit mode for each node and modify the time and/or temp. This works, but it can be a chore to look at a reference curve and write down each node timestamp that you want to change, do the change, go back into analyzer to see the change to the curve and repeat as necessary.

I generally use the reading curves from completed roasts to create new profiles. Those seem to never be as smooth as I want for reference curves and I've been editing them as described above. What I'd like to be able to do is enter a graphical mode, like the Analyzer, from within a profile/program, select the reference curve I want to modify and either drag the node to the new time/temp or have the node's time/temp data popup for editing. I can then see immediately that I've affected the curve as I intended.

Having a great time with Roastmaster. I should have setup data logging years ago!
Thanks for all your work Danny!

Wish List / Re: Datalogging support for power meters

Hi Trey

Lots is changing in the coming version of Roastmaster in the area of Data Logging.

First of all, Control Curves will now support data logging. Beyond that, it will introduce the concept of "Scales" beyond the standard temperature scale (Humidity, Pressure, Agtron, etc.).

All of these (and several others) are means to the end of goals like you mention. I don't want to talk a lot on the forum about those features yet, until I'm in beta (very soon), but shoot me an email at support@rainfroginc.com...I'd be interested to know more about the power meters you mention and can speak a little more openly.

Wish List / Datalogging support for power meters
« Last post by Trey D on May 14, 2020, 09:07:54 PM »
Hi,

I have an electric, fluid bed roaster and would really like the option of automatic datalogging of power usage for the heater and fan. Preferably this would be in watts, but amps would work too. I currently enter the data (when I have time) manually as I read it from a meter.
Is there any chance of getting such a feature? Because of the multitude of sensors/meter out there, I'd be willing to adapt my roaster to whatever you decide to support so I could get the datalogging ability.

Thanks!

Hi Stephen

Don't worry too much about it. Whenever displaying the collective "name" of a bean, Roastmaster simply concatenates all of those fields together in the order those identifiers are displayed - regardless of which field contains the information.

Sometimes Tom will call out which is an estate or market name in the description, often he won't. It would take an awful lot of research to stay on top of that information. Some roasters have a direct relationship with farmers, so that distinction is important to them. Others aren't concerned with it at all. Many of us (myself included) typically just input the full name into the first field - the end result is the same.  :)

Good day, all.  I am taking up home roasting as a hobby as I transition into retirement from a 26-year military career.

The first hurdle I have come up against is figuring out how to catalog my green beans.

I purchased an SR540 from Sweet Maria's and they sent me eight sample bags of beans.

I have three label examples attached.

I am trying to figure out how I translate the data on the label into the bean categories in the RoastMaster app.

For example:  How does the name on the bag, e.g., El Salvador La Esperanza "H1" Cultivar break down into the RM categories of Market, Estate, Variety, etc.

Thanks so much!  I am looking forward to a first roast but want to make sure I capture data at all stages.

Sorry - no. Unlike temperature, weight, volume and density measurements, where Roastmaster translates among static scales, exchange rates for currency is always evolving. Roastmaster records the currency exactly as you enter it - displaying the units according to the current iOS region setting in Settings>General>Language & Region>Region.

Hello.  Is there a way to change the currency within the Beans Inventory?  Thanks.

Yes - Roastmaster refers to those as Delta Curves. They are the bottom two curves seen here at 15:40... https://rainfroginc.com/wordpress/documentation/roasting-with-roastmaster-part-4-roast-and-curve-events/

You can enable those globally in Preferences > Analyzer, or two finger tap in the analyzer to toggle them on or off for individual curves.
