Profiles and Programs
Roastmaster lets you store any number of profiles and programs for each roaster in your library.
Whether you use profiles as simple pointers to a roasting appliance’s preset factory profiles, or as a virtual library of your favorite custom settings for a manual roaster, Roastmaster’s profiles help you achieve consistency between roasts by storing all of the mechanical variables that can make or break a roast.
Flexible by Nature
Since roasting appliances vary greatly in their design and function, Roastmaster’s roasting profiles were designed to be extremely flexible to accommodate the different situations in which they will be used. Your use of profiles will likely vary depending on how your roaster functions.
If your roaster supports profiles, and they are factory set and not editable, then you will likely create and name Roastmaster profiles to match the profiles available on the appliance. As you roast, you will simply choose the profile you roast with and assign it to the roast. This gives you a record for your reference, as well as ensuring that future roasts using the same profile will be able to use this data to calibrate the roasting gauge, and to display in the graph view. Since you cannot edit the profiles on the machine, your interest in Roastmaster profiles will likely end here.
For roasting appliances that feature editable profiles, however, or manually-controlled roasters that do not provide automatic roast settings at all, you will likely use two of the more advanced features of profiles – curves and snapshots. Curves will allow you fine-tuned control and storage of the data that profiles can contain, and snapshots allow you the flexibility to tweak this data (and all profile data) in future roasts, leaving the original profile in its intact state. In the latter situation, the profiles section of a Roastmaster roaster will become your own custom library of roaster settings. Since profiles can also contain notes and ratings, you will have one consolidated place to store your favorite mechanical “recipes” for the perfect roast!
